The Grand Conjunction of Aligned Systems is a civilized space community.
Summary
The Grand Conjunction of Aligned Systems, commonly referred to as the Grand Conjunction or GCAS, is a civilization in the NMS universe. All territories held by the Grand Conjunction are referred to locally as Conjoined Space.
Its primary territory straddles the border between the Gwriginhi Conflux and Daclivun Spur regions of the Euclid galaxy, but also has various holdings throughout known space. Its official embassy is on the planet Viss-Hallr liw'Ofroer in the Woden-Fehu fjo'Folr system.
To date, GCAS has documented 144 players and 8362 discoveries in Conjoined Space including 4174 species of fauna, 1645 starships, 1645 planets and moons, 523 star systems, and 65 regions.
Mission
The Grand Conjunction's mission is to decipher the mysteries of the universe through exploration, research, and documentation.

Background
This civilization started in its earliest form before the Dawn of Foundation in the Daclivun Spur region, with its original capitol in the Adhr-Pertho fjo'Folr system on the eden world Cyanotopia. During the Age of the First Galactic Reset, beautiful Cyanotopia was reduced to a hostile wasteland unfit for habitation and its people scattered to other realms. They remained scattered until living ships appeared, gathering those long lost and uniting them once again. Thus the Daclivun-Gwriginhi Alliance was born, which quickly blossomed into the Grand Conjunction.
Naming Guidelines
Most GCAS regions are informal, allowing resident members to name discoveries as they see fit, as long as they are not derogatory or offensive. Most discoveries are left with their default procedural names. If desired, residents may include a civilization tag of "[GCAS]" to the name of a discovered system, which can be used as a prefix or suffix.
Some GCAS regions may include additional guidelines used by their primary residents, such as the Gwriginhi Conflux and Daclivun Spur regions which use their own Naming Convention.
Joining
The Grand Conjunction welcomes all free-thinking, independent players who value the pursuit and sharing of knowledge to align with us, provided they are willing to meet the requirements below.
Interested individuals may join at any level of association which they feel comfortable with. This could be as a simple resident, scout, or full member. As the Grand Conjunction is a non-localized civilization, there is no need to relocate.
- Resident: An individual that lives in Conjoined Space, but without any further role or chosen duties. Residents of Conjoined Space are not necessarily members but shall still be counted on the GCAS census.
- Scout: An individual who prefers pure exploration and is always on the move, looking for the next great discoveries.
- Member: A full member of the Grand Conjunction who actively shares the core values of exploration and service to the greater NMS community through research and documentation.
- Dual-Residency and Dual-Membership are both permissible in Conjoined Space for individuals who otherwise meet the requirements.
If you wish to join at any level, please contact Ertosi on Reddit, message Ertosi here on the wiki, or if you can meet the requirements below, add yourself to the Grand Conjunction Census.
Requirements
Most of our early members played on PC through Steam, but thanks to the Crossplay update individuals from all platforms are welcome and have since joined. Individuals interested in joining may add themselves to GCAS Census, but will be removed from the roster if they do not complete the following requirements in a timely manner.
- Applicant must fill out their census entry as completely as possible. Multiple methods of contact must be included.
- Applicants we do not know and/or play with personally must complete a minimum of 5 GCAS Bounty missions.
- GCAS members must always uphold the ideals and and abide by the rules of the GCAS. Those who do not, or who otherwise misrepresent the GCAS, will be removed from membership with haste.
Benefits
Joining GCAS provides interested individuals a wide range of benefits. Expand for a full listing.
- Documentation - The Grand Conjunction is one of the better documented civilizations in known space and continues to expand its archives daily. Data includes system and planetary scans complete with desirable ships, important locations, local resources, and extensive scans of local fauna. Contribute with the knowledge that you are part of a growing civilization which aims to serve the greater community through our documentation.
- Share Exciting Discoveries - Since the Grand Conjunction's founding, our scouts have discovered over three-hundred record-holding species of fauna (as per the Fauna Hall of Fame, including legacy version). Our scientists also introduced the concepts of species extinction, flora and mineral dimorphism, divergent species, recurring space encounters, and a different classification system for fauna which is more accurate to the game coding than alternative methods. The only thing better than making such ground-breaking discoveries is sharing them with an enthusiastic team of like-minded players.
- Project Participation - Interested players are welcome to participate in any of the Grand Conjunction's current and future projects including searching for megafauna and Paradise worlds, researching glitched creatures, and studying the Fade at the edge of the galaxy.
- Custom Technologies - The Grand Conjunction provides unique technologies not available elsewhere to its members, provided in the form of immersive mods branded under the ConSpaTech name. These technologies include weather dampeners, upgraded exosuits, Sentinel jammers, the seismic agitator, and expanded photo-mode options, all designed to help members get back to and focus on the parts of the game they love most.
- A Non-Localized Society - As one of the few active non-localized civilizations, joining the Grand Conjunction means you can continue playing wherever you may already call home. This also means the Grand Conjunction is a good choice for more independent players who prefer playing on their own terms but still wish to be a part of a greater cause. Being spread across a larger area also servers our primary goals of exploration and discovery.
Alliances
Being a meritocracy, all potential alliances shall be considered based upon the other civilization's overall contributions to the greater NMS community. Any potential alliance must revolve around a specific research, documentation, or other scientific project with clearly defined goals. Exceptions may be made for individuals of exceptional merit, or other civilizations which focus solely on research and documentation, each on a case by case situation. The GCAS shall refrain from entering in alliances with civilizations deemed overly aggressive or actively supporting of illicit activities (those categorized as Militant, Smuggling, Piracy, etc.).
Current Alliances and Research Partners
- Intergalactic Exploration Corporation, PC, Exploration alliance.
Leaving
Members and associates may choose to unalign themselves with the Grand Conjunction at any time. Personal credits for any discoveries shall always remain with the discovering individual. Civilization credits for discoveries made while part of the Grand Conjunction shall remain with the Grand Conjunction. Previously documented home regions and systems that entered into the GCAS with an individual shall remain with that individual should they choose to leave.
Members
Refer to the Census page for the full list of members. If you wish to join the Grand Conjunction and meet the requirements, you may add your name and information there.
Regions and Systems Discovered
- † Age of all systems in each region as seen in the Exploration Guide, measured in billons of years old. 2.0 byo is the youngest and 13.1 is the oldest possible in NMS.

Rules
Rules for this civilization include:
- Treat other players with respect at all times. This includes, but is not limited to:
- No trolling, no flaming. Keep it friendly for all ages and play styles.
- When within the territory of any civilization, honor their rules, customs, and naming conventions.
- Before building in an occupied system, ask the resident(s) if they mind and if they have any stipulations. Honor their wishes.
- Seek to help when you see others in need. On the flip side, seek help when it is truly needed, but be cautious to never overburden others. Aim to stand on your own feet and strive to offer more than you take.
All discoveries within Conjoined Space are credited to the Grand Conjunction. Any player names displayed on structures (i.e. bases) or discovery uploads found within Conjoined Space will be added to the GCAS Census as Non-Member Residents, meaning while they are not part of the GCAS government they shall still be counted as citizens for total population. Such inclusion shall remain for however long the player's name is visible within Conjoined Space. Any actions performed by resident citizens outside of the GCAS government and staff (full members) do not necessarily reflect the views and positions of the GCAS.
